Virinderpaul Singh is a Canadian filmmaker, producer and industry advocate who brings both creative and sector-development experience to MISAFF. Now in his second year as Industry Programmer, he helps shape the festival’s industry programming, connecting filmmakers with the people, organizations and opportunities that can support their work and careers.

His work with MISAFF spans industry research, professional development programming and relationship-building with funders, unions and other screen-sector partners. He also supports film acquisitions, represents the festival at industry markets and helps develop conversations and networking opportunities that respond to the realities facing filmmakers working in Canada today.

Alongside his work with MISAFF, Singh is Co-President of the South Asian Canadian Film Federation and serves on the board of the Hamilton Theatre and Dance Organization. As a filmmaker, he has worked across feature documentaries, short films and music videos, with a particular interest in Punjabi culture, diasporic identity and culturally specific storytelling. His broader industry work centres on equity and access, including initiatives that have supported the development of more than 75 Black filmmakers through CaribbeanTales and trained 25 women filmmakers through the Creators of Colour program.
